Martial Arts Unity The Gathering of Warriors V 2007 Featuring: Dr. Crimi Hanshi, Sigung Steve LaBounty, Tuhan Jordan Pallen. Martial Arts Unity - the Gathering of Warriors V Day 1 Well, another year come and gone. This years Martial Arts Unity Seminar was fantastic. There were a few hitches but over all it was a tremendous hit! There were a total of about 45 students over a two day period. Friday night started with the presenters dinner which consisted of tri-tip steaks, white corn on the cob and garlic mashed potatoes, which were prepared by Dr. Crimi (and we're talking garlic whew!) and last but not least rocky road ice cream, which was the biggest hit of all! Especially with Tuhan Pallen's Daughter Bianca and Sigung LaBounty. There were a few problems, one being that Dr. Crimi's dear friend and brother in the Martial Art's Grandmaster Max Pallen went into surgery a few days before the seminar, but he did call and apologize for not being able to teach (a true warrior). Grandmaster Pallen is fine and doing great with no problems. Just a side note "Grandmaster Pallen is one of the finest martial artists I have ever met in every sense of the word." Kevin Pell Hanshi had apparently double booked and had to teach in Italy, but that's fine. We hope his seminar was the best ever. He was missed and who knows, maybe next year! So, we had Sigung Steve LaBounty, Tuhan Jordan Pallen, myself Dr. Crimi and some of the best students in the world. They worked for two days straight seven and half hours a day and never stopped smiling or sweating!
Saturday morning, Started off with registration as provided by my Daughter and Son-In-Law. The first to register was of course my Granddaughter Brenna.
Then, I taught Hikari Ryuza Ryu Jujutsu®. There were many twisted arms, backs and legs, all with a wince of pain and smiles all around.
Sigung Steve LaBounty was up next. With limb destruction and ground work and as usual everyone was totally blown away and amazed by his knowledge and skill and his off set humor! "Steve LaBounty is one of the greatest and most dedicated students of the Martial Arts I have ever met in my life!"
Tuhan Jordan Pallen followed up with an amazing seminar on Sinawali drills and Senkotiros. This young man is one of the finest hopes for the future of Martial Arts with his skills, his understanding of the arts their protocols and the guidance of his mentor and father Grandmaster Pallen!
The head chef on Saturday was Merle Hackett a senior brown belt at the Hikari Ryuza Ryu Do Kan®. Mr. Hackett is 72 years young a volunteer for the Nevada County Sheriff Department and a student of Jujutsu for the last six years.
The day's activities concluded with everyone in high spirits full of energy and covered with sweat and smiles.
Sunday morning started right on time with a slightly smaller group but just as enthusiastic as the group from the day before.
The first class was taught by myself, in which we explored the humor behind Tsue no Maki (Scroll of the Walking Stick.) By humor I mean the irony of wood meeting bones, joint and flesh!! Oh heck, they loved every minute aspect of the meeting! (I hope?!?!?) "Phone for me?"
The second class was again taught by Sigung Steve LaBounty. Brilliant as usual, all of us who attended were surprised by the content of the seminar in it simplicity and its depth. This seems to be the underlying theme of Sigung LaBounty's seminars, the esoteric's of Kenpo lies within the basics! Sigung LaBounty and Mike Freman. "How do we get rid of all these Jitsu guys?"
Sigung LaBounty demonstrating a strike. "Just like you are pointing"
Sunday morning found Tuhan Pallen's shoulder bothering him. So, I went to work on him and did what I love to do!
The head chef on Sunday was Murray Arnold a senior brown belt at the Hikari Ryuza Ryu Do Kan®. A volunteer for the Nevada County Sheriff Department and a student of Jujutsu for the last six years. Mr. Arnold is 82 years young and growing!
Man these people will never get this stuff! What did I get myself into?
Tuhan Pallen demonstrating a disarming technique. We are all looking forward to next year with great anticipation! ©2002-2007 Dr. Crimi |
